Student Clubs and Activities

• Art club is an open studio with occasional structured activities. There will food, music, and most importantly, art! 

• Aspiring Medical Student Association is a club for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field. The club hosts speakers ranging from established medical professionals to students in medical school. This club will also expose students to the profession through volunteer programs and internships.

• The Asian American Culture Club hopes to raise awareness concerning issues regarding AAPI and POC in general. We will host discussions, events, and work with other activism groups to celebrate Asian American culture.

• Baking Club is for anyone who wants to try their hand at baking. We will not only be baking different cakes, cookies, and more, but we will also be reviewing and recommending various bakeries and restaurants in the Boston area. We will also be donating some of our baked goods to charity.

• This club’s main goal is to teach people about current developments in the biology world.

• bbin娱乐平台MUN is one of the largest clubs at bbin娱乐平台. Its mission is to foster a profound love for diplomacy in middle schoolers and encourage them to engage in the world around them. We host a two-day conference for middle school students every year. If you have Model UN experience, or any interest in international relations, this is a great chance for you to take on a leadership position. If not, volunteers are always welcome and will receive 20 community service hours and free lunch!

• The YouTube Tech Reviewer Club brings together students within the bbin娱乐平台 community to share their interest in a wide variety of tech products (software & hardware), conduct an in-depth review, and create an entertaining & informative video showcasing the products and their features. The products will be reviewed for their Tech innovation, design, usability, and engineering. The video will be hosted on a public YouTube channel called bbin娱乐平台 Tech Review. We also assist other bbin娱乐平台 groups with video content creation support. Members of the club can expect to learn the process of analyzing various tech products; look at some of the popular Tech Review channels; develop a deep understanding in creating videos with the latest tech; edit the content; and creative ways of sharing the same with the world. This club will meet once a week and will aim to publish two videos or more per month. We will also be running a few community outreach initiatives similar to this one. No experience is required. • Bujo Club is for anyone, whether you’re an avid bullet journaler or if you would like to learn more about what a bullet journal is and potentially start one as a great way to stay artfully organized. We meet to work on our weekly & monthly spreads, and to do various fun projects (including community service) throughout the year!

• ChemClub is an official chapter of the ACS High School ChemClub. In this club, we perform experiments from modern chemical research and important historical research and gather once a month to work on a year-long chemistry project. Our goal is to show members the beauty and wonder of chemistry. Our connection with ACS provides an opportunity for students to connect with the ACS local section and BU’s ACS student chapter. No chemistry experience is required, but at the end of the year, you will have both theoretical and practical knowledge. Come to Chem Club!

• We hold weekly meetings. Players of all levels are welcome to join. We expect to hold online tournaments against the other schools throughout the year.

• Students interested in Computer Science and programming meet weekly in Zoom sessions, and students of all experience levels are all welcome. Students are split into project teams involving general-purpose programming with Python, Web Development, Mobile App Development, and Machine Learning. Students work on real-world projects as well as local organizations and the school on various computer-science-based projects too.

• Our goal is to incorporate more service into the bbin娱乐平台 student experience. We organize monthly outings to local organizations and a school-wide Day of Service. We are also working towards facilitating safe and kind interactions between the bbin娱乐平台 and homeless communities. Anyone can sign up to come to the Club’s volunteer outings, but actual club meetings will take place once a week either during lunch or after classes, depending on availability. During meetings, we’ll plan our Day of Service as well as other activities. We hope you can join!

• Cooking Club is a club where we cook over Zoom together. No cooking experience is required, and we will help you through the process step-by-step. We will be making a wide variety of dishes, and suggestions are welcome!

• Are you interested in public speaking and learning about interesting topics/current events? Then join debate club! Our club meets weekly to prepare for Public forum debate tournaments throughout the year. We welcome those who want to compete and those who want to debate casually. Debate topics are varied and can range from the morality of civil disobedience to whether or not the federal government should break up big tech companies. No prior experience necessary.

• The bbin娱乐平台 Drama Club offers theater lovers a chance to explore their passion. Anyone interested in theatrical performance or production is welcome to partake in the Winter Play, Senior Play, or Spring Musical. Drama is a high-commitment club, with two-hour rehearsals several days a week, with some pretty intense weeks as shows get closer! Be you an actor, lighting designer, set builder, or costumer, drama club is a fantastic place to pursue your interests and have the time of your life in the process.

• Fashion Design and Sewing is a club where anyone can release their inner fashionista by learning how to design and sew their own clothing while helping to sustain the environment by reducing the number of supplies wasted while creating clothing. Projects include garments like dresses and pants, accessories like scrunchies and handbags, and monthly Project Runway-like fashion rendering competitions. We’ll be meeting on Fridays after school and during activity block, and no experience is required to join. Hope to see all you fashionistas there!

• Team 246, otherwise known as Overclocked, is a FIRST-affiliated robotics team founded in 1999 at Boston University and Boston University Academy participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), with limited participation in the Vex Robotics Competition (VRC). Roles on the team vary anywhere from engineering (ie. mechanical, electrical, programming, etc.) to administrative and outreach. Members are not limited to one role, and may branch out to multiple roles on the team. New members need not be proficient in any technical or administrative expertise and will undergo generalized and specialized training as they grow with the team. Please note that the robotics team is as high a commitment as a sport or drama; however, hours are flexible, and meetings are both virtual and in person. We are active year round with training and team events, but our main season is January to March.

• Fitness Club gives people the opportunity to stay fit/get in shape as well as provide helpful tips and knowledge about working out. We believe that PE is not enough for students who want to stay active but do not want to commit to a sport. At FitRec, we will split into groups based on people’s interests (weight room, cardio, etc.). We hope to meet 2-3 times a week after school during the spring semester.

• Geography Club is a super fun, informal group. We play geography games and study for the National Geography Championships: a bee-style competition that feeds directly into iGeo(the international component). Not all members compete, some are there to prepare for competition and some just want to have some geography-related fun. Either way, everyone has a good time!

• Come to Gay-Straight Alliance to talk about all topics LGBTQ! On top of discussions, the club will hopefully hold a fundraiser for charity. All are welcome. 

• The Indian Alliance Club brings together students within the bbin娱乐平台 community to celebrate the Indian festivals, learn about Indian culture, learn and enjoy Indian cuisines through holding events. Club members will meet bi-weekly to talk about their culture, cuisine, movies, history, festivals…etc. We hope to create an inclusive environment where any bbin娱乐平台 student from any cultural background can join us. We plan to have an Indian food festival every month. All are welcome!

• The bbin娱乐平台 Informatics and Programming Team gives students the opportunity to compete in team and individual programming contests across the country, with the opportunity to win prizes and extend their knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and informatics as a whole. Students mainly work with programming languages such as Java and Python, and periodically may have the opportunity to learn from professors at BU about various techniques that may be useful in competition.

• We look to provide a comfortable space where Jewish students feel safe in expressing their opinions and or just engaging in casual conversation. Like every Jewish gathering, there’s always good food and meaningful dialogue! Though this organization is religiously affiliated, we hope that students of all faiths and denominations will look to our club for a place to chat and relax (everyone is welcome)! We generally meet on/around holidays but also tend to organize meetings by members’ discretion when it seems fitting. The club has no real-time commitment required, and any level of participation is appreciated.

• Hi! Welcome to Koi Comic Club! We’re a club full of people who either love comics or love to create comics! We collaborate and hang out through online tools and software like Discord and MedibangPaint, host school-wide comic contests, and offer free resources like our shared digital tablet. This year we’ll also be hosting weekly meetings to hang out together and play games with the chance of winning art supplies! Check us out if you’re interested!

• The literary magazine meets 1 hour per week from September to March. Come to our table if you’re interested in creative writing, or in reading and appreciating the creative work of your classmates! No prior experience necessary. Once a week, we eat chocolate and read/workshop poems, stories, etc. written by bbin娱乐平台 students. It’s a ton of fun, and we’re a very inclusive community. • Math Team gives students the opportunity to explore competition and topics that might not be covered in the school curriculum. A welcoming environment for people with or without prior experience in math competitions. A place for people to bond over common interests.

• Mental Health Awareness Club is a club that hopes to spread knowledge about mental health in teens throughout the bbin娱乐平台 community.

Have you ever imagined what it would be to participate in a court trial? bbin娱乐平台 Mock trial will teach and help you interact in a simulated court trial about a chosen topic. In this club, you can learn to become a witness, attorney, or defendant. Participants will prep a case based on the given information and are assigned to a side. They will learn the basics of a court trial, go through all of the pre-trial, and finally participate in a simulated trial where they will be judged by some bbin娱乐平台 faculty to determine if the defendant will be declared guilty or not guilty. Additionally, we will be participating in the Mass Bar Mock trial competition. Everyone is welcome to join and no prior mock trial experience is required!

• Are you interested in foreign affairs or politics? Do you like to keep up with current events or the news? If so, then Model UN is the club for you! By participating in simulations of the United Nations you will not only learn about diplomacy and international relations but also practice debating skills and public speaking. Our Model UN team attends conferences at colleges such as Boston University, Brown University, Tufts University, and many others!

• The Music Fusion Club combines various musical styles and genres from around the world in an effort to promote collaboration amongst artists. In the past, we have had pianists, percussionists, and violinists and we are looking to expand our club for more vibrant performances. Members will have the opportunity to perform in school and other community events. 

• The goal of the Music Production club is to use a DAW (Digital Audio Interface) to make, mix, and arrange beats! We meet once every two weeks. It’s a fun space to learn from each other to make great music and beats!

• Nerdy Games Club is a club where nerds get together to play games. Play D&D, Magic: The Gathering, and more!

• Outing club is new this year! We will help to plan the annual ski trip and outings to the Weston Ski Track for cross country skiing and Blue Hills Reservation for hiking. We hope to plan other outings to local spots around Boston, too. Our goal is the get the bbin娱乐平台 community together and outside! Join us to help brainstorm and coordinate these outings for the bbin娱乐平台 community.

• We will teach people how to play Pickle Ball and play in the gym. No experience is needed to join!

• We read political theory, economic theory, and philosophy and discuss as a group!

• Philosophy Club explores ethical, social, and political questions with the intent of participating in the Ethics Bowl competition in February.

• The Scarlet Letter is bbin娱乐平台’s student-run online newspaper. We publish writing and photography in the following sections: News, Opinion, Reviews, Commentary, Arts, and Satire. In doing so, we seek to report on current events with a connection to bbin娱乐平台, to bring forth a wide range of perspectives from bbin娱乐平台 students, and to showcase the depth and creativity of student work. We meet weekly to assign and work on articles. We publish issues monthly. Previously published articles and more information about us can be found on our website, scarletletter.press. We hope you’ll join us! 

• Science Team is a student-run club dedicated to expanding and building on our knowledge in the sciences. Students compete in a wide variety of events ranging from engineering to tests and score points for the team. There are several competitions throughout the year such as the Harvard and MIT invitationals and the Massachusetts State Science Olympiad. For more information go to soinc.org. This year, we will also compete in the Science Bowl where students have to press a buzzer and answer questions with speed and accuracy.

• The seniors put on a play each spring but we need more actors, so come all! Come by and help us choose a play for the year!

• Shakespeare Club (a.k.a. Bard Club) is an opportunity for long-time and new lovers of Shakespeare to read more of his work and discuss it with other members of the bbin娱乐平台 community. We’ll pick a play to read, and during our weekly meetings, read it aloud scene by scene. After we finish a play, we’ll discuss it and watch a stage production or film adaptation together. The format of this club lends itself well to both in-person and virtual discussions: so whether remote or face-to-face, we should have some equally enjoyable time together! This club is intended to be low commitment and low stress, as we all have a lot going on during the school year. My hope is that this will be a fun way to explore more of Shakespeare’s work in a welcoming, friendly, and (hopefully) fun environment together. I hope you’ll join us! 

• Welcome to SGC, Social Gaming Club! We play party games, both online and in-person, as a form of socializing. Our goals here are to make intergrade friendships, have fun, and ragequit at each other. It’s an extremely low commitment club and the only requirement is to have a discord account! If you do join it is preferable to have a Steam account or be able to download certain games (from safe sites of course). We hope to see you there!

• Stock Market Club is a club that helps members learn about the basics of investing and allows them to compete in competitions that will enhance their understanding of the Stock Market. Everyone is welcome even if you have no experience.

• We are a group of 15 students spanning all four grades dedicated to improving student life by planning events, discussing school policy, supplying resources, and generally serving as the liaison between the students and the administration. If any of that sounds interesting to you, you can run for a representative position on StuCo! Three freshmen representatives will be elected this fall at a class meeting. Elected representatives are expected to attend weekly general meetings as well as two weekly subcommittee meetings. We also welcome general members. You qualify as a general member if you come to at least half of the general meetings and help out with at least one event each semester. 

• The Student Life Improvement Club’s, aka SLIC, purpose is to make the school days a little more enjoyable for everyone! We provide care packages during finals week, hot chocolate on cold winter days, and other little things throughout the school year. Our meetings are very informal, and anyone is welcome to join.

• Green Club will be a way for students to show their support for a more sustainable future by finding new ways to make our school and our world eco-friendlier. Some things that we will want to accomplish are to set up a plant adoption for teachers, figure out a way to incorporate composting in our school, hosting fundraisers for different events, and creating a bbin娱乐平台 monthly newsletter where people can get information on the latest changes in the world, and activism opportunities. Green Club is for anybody that is passionate about trying to help the environment and we will probably have snacks at most meetings. 

• Come help produce the 2021 yearbook!  Students can get involved at all levels, from photography to page design (or just bake lots of brownies for fundraising). No experience required. The book represents everyone, so we need input from lots of people, from graduating seniors to the newest freshmen!  General staff will meet once a week while doing much of our work independently and online. Deadlines are big and real.  And your work can be a gift of memory for your classmates. In other words…it matters. It’s also fun and satisfying to see your work take shape. Join us!
